Research and development
PHANTEC’s UAV work covers design, development, test, and production. The AETHER is a tilt-rotor hybrid platform for civil and military tasks.
The platform combines fixed-wing cruise with vertical take-off and landing. Power is a hybrid arrangement of battery arrays and a hydrogen fuel cell, driving four electric tilt rotors. The fuselage folds and the wing is removable for transport.
Modified Riblett aerofoil, low-speed transition from hover to wing-borne flight, and a modular payload bay. The autopilot uses three-axis rate and acceleration measurement, with triple-redundant GPS-assisted IMU. Ground control supports single or multiple aircraft, automated mission cycles, and BVLOS operations.
Cooled 640 by 512 thermal imager, 10 µm, sensitivity below 28 mK. Day camera 1920 by 1080 with 30× optical zoom. Class I eye-safe laser range finder, stated maximum 32 km and 12 km to a standard NATO target. Two-axis mechanical and three-axis electronic stabilisation, IP67, −30 °C to 65 °C.
